Why Inverter Airconds Need a Dedicated Circuit

A 1.5HP inverter unit draws a steady 1,000W but surges to 3,800W for a second or two on compressor start. That surge shares with a kettle or iron = instant MCB trip.

• Nuisance tripping during monsoon (high humidity = harder compressor work)
• Voltage sag that shortens compressor life
• Overheating in the shared circuit wiring

The Correct Wire and MCB Spec

For most Malaysian homes:

• 1.0 - 1.5HP: 2.5mm² cable + 20A MCB
• 2.0HP: 4mm² cable + 25A MCB
• 2.5 - 3.0HP: 4mm² cable + 32A MCB

Cable must run in its own conduit from the DB to the aircond isolator — no junctions, no shared trunking with other circuits.

Why You Cannot Share with a Plug Point
